American Empire? I have hearing more and more lately about the "American Empire". I am sick and tired of these accusations. These people are the same ones that compare America to Rome and any other empire throughout history. America is not an Empire. Yes there are similarities between America and Rome, but we are not like them. America will not fall to the same fate as Rome. The weaknesses of Rome are what made it fall, America will not fall the same way Rome did. I am a firm believer in biblical prophecy. Though I dont believe that America is the new Israel, I do believe we are nearing the end of days. America will not end enless the world ends. The only other possibility of America falling is through civil war. And the way our country is designed, a civil war like in 1861 could not happen, instead it would be a civil war of the People Against the Government. So here's my question, Do you think that the U.S. is an Empire, Why or Why Not Sorry for the bad grammer in the first sentence, missed it.
Every civilization collapse how will the western world or should I say American empire? How will the western world or I should say American empire which it really is, how will if collapse and dont come with that no it wont crap every civilization does even if it falls crumbles and comes back numerous times one time it will be gone for good and how do you think? War (terrorism with atomic bombs, ww3 etc) Disease (Aids becoming airborne, A new one) Nature (Global warming, natural disaster etc) How and when?
What is happening to the American Empire? The American Empire is being tested from three fronts (West, South, and East). With countries like North Korea, China, Bolivia, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan and Russia openly disagreeing with and (in some cases) hating America, who is to say that some/all of these countries have not signed a secret pact to overtake america?
In governing their American empire after 1763, the new problem which faced the British was? strong American support for a rudimentary colonial union expressed in the popular Albany Plan. colonial reluctance to expand into the Ohio River Valley. demands from the British public to control unruly colonists. greatly increased expenses of administering a far larger and more complex empire. colonial resentment for the failure of the British to aid them during the French and Indian War.
How will the American empire end? America was designed to be a republic, not a ruler of other nations. An example to them, a "city on a hill." It has drifted into an empire, presuming to impose its will by power on others such as Iraq. How will it all end? I fear that America will fall due to internal decadence. As Rome did. A symptom of decay is the flight into irrational mysticism, such as fundamentalist religious delusions. Domestic problems are neglected while resources are diverted to external adventures. The American people are pacified and distracted by bread and circuses, in the form of cheap or free food and free entertainment (think Food Stamps and television). If Britney Spears shaves her head, this is treated as of it is significant, and Anna Nicole Smith is treated as if she mattered, America has lost its way and is in decay. And when it falls it will take Western Civilization with it. What can we do? I will not go queitly into that dark night, but rage, rage against the dying of the light.
How do you feel about the American Empire's decline? I'm British, but i wasn't around for the British Empire, so i was spared the stale feeling you get when something you've known all your life is fading away. All empires fade though, they reach a pinnacle then go down from there, its a natural cycle empires and nations will follow until the end of time. People will disagree, undoubtably, but i beleive the US is in decline, soon to be replaced by China, and possibly shoved into third behind Russia. To those that agree, how do you feel?
The Unionist State of the American Empire? Nationalism sucks! It lays the groundwork for totalitarianism. The U.S.A. acts like a global authoritarian. The central planners are not planning for competition. They are being collectivist, and planning against competition, global and domestic. The only legitimate unions are voluntary unions. The empire of America is not a constructive voluntary union. The right to succeed should be firmly established, or woe to the grand expiriment that was the United States.
what do you think will happen if American Empire falls? well i think it is falling, because their economy is getting weaker every day, they spend and wast money in useless wars and stuff, they got so Meany base in the world that they mast pay tuns of money in them, and so meany meany more, well what will happen if they fall, will india and china rule the world? will muslim rule the world? will communism rule? will the world be more peacefull?
Do you think Bush had begun the downfall of the American Empire? He rather waste billions of dollars in Iraq then fix the problems here at home. He has zero regards for what is moronic choices are doing to kill this country. He's leaving behind the largest national debt ever and has screwed it up so it will take decades to repair.
Is Afghanistan the end of the American empire? You would think someone in the Bush administration would have read some history. Alexander the great, Ghengis Khan, the British Empire, the Soviets - every single one had their @ss handed to them in Afghanistan. The question now isn't if we can win - it's if we can get out in time to save our empire. Will Obama be smart enough to get the hell out of that part of the world?
Is the American Empire on its last legs? With an over stretched military, a weakening dollar, an administratively weak government, and massive domestic-social disparity, are we not beginning to see the decline (relative) of the US Empire? What do you think?
is the American empire in a progressive state of decline? is it going the same way as the soviet model, collapsing of it's own rottenness? it is inevitable that empires do not last forever. is it starting? is it reversible? the soviet model was marked by a distinct lack of ability to reform itself. inb4 someone says it's not an empire.
Is Globalisation really the name of the American Empire? Since globalisation started more wealth has been created and extracted from third world countries than ever before in history. This has made many dictators and businessmen rich, but the wealth gap has also increased. Over 80% of the world's wealth is now concentrated in the hands of 1% of the population. Is this the result and modus operandi of globalisation? Pgarox, isn't that what an empire is?
Do you see this economic failure as the demise of The American Empire? Why I say this is because ever since our high of a successful ww2 victory, the leaders of this nation have been spending like there's no tommorow. Being an election year neither candidate offer a real solution and have not mentioned cutting any unneccesary spending. I would just like to know what people on yahoo think about all this?
Do you think that the USA should change its name to the American Empire? There's a lot of countries that we've conquered and are now our vassals (this includes any countries that have an American base on them) Some of them are: Japan (conquered twice), all the Indian nations that are now in reservation, Israel, Canada, Peru, South Korea, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and many others.
Can the American empire be seen as getting stronger or crumbling apart? I need a little help on this. this is an essay topic that i have to do and i need three solid points to help me solidify my argument. I have two; one is that i can talk about the economy deteriorating, their military deteriorating as in defense and foreign alliances, but i cant think of a third one, could somebody please help me. 10 points for best answer
How does the American Empire work? - How is this empire differ from the Roman Empire? - Fundamental Economic Interests. Reading the book Empire by James Laxer. There is a whole chapter on the American Empire.
is it the end of the road for the american empire? will the word ditch the dollar, the US economy collapse and the country will descend into civil unrest? or will they pull themselves out of it and join with canada and mexico to become the north american union? what do you think?
When will people wake up and realize it is the American Empire which is causing all the financial troubles? The government relies on money printing to fiance trillion dollars wars and trillion dollar social programs. Money printing is what causes asset bubbles and business cycles. It is the main reason fro the trade deficit. Whether you consider her an empire or not, she has resorted to the same methods that all empires use to fund their activities, that is the debasement of the currency. the trade deficit is different to the national deficit
Are we in the midst of the fall of the American empire? As our best poet said, The times they are a-changing". The most hated country and only super power - at this point in time - the United States appears to be losing influence every day. For example, Australians have just voted to end 11 years of Conservative rule which means - I think - that our down-under friends may soon withdraw their support of American interference in foreign civil wars. Big business is also opposed to the Kyoto Accord to fight global warming. But with the exception of Canada (our cold banana republic to the north), all nations approved tough new clean-air regulations. Canada was obviously instructed by Washington to vote NO on grounds that some major polluters - such as China - were not part of the Accord. In other words, let's do nothing until everybody's on board.
American Empire in perspective: What is common about the following greatest empires the world ever saw...? Genghis Khan empire Ancient Rome Mughal Empire of india Ottoman Empire Spanish Empire of 15th and 16th century British empire of 17th and 18th century (when the sun never set on the British empire) Louis XIV's France Alexander the Great's Empire Napoleon's empire Holy Roman Empire Nazi Germany Fascist Italy Imperialist Japan (World War II) Soviet Union Byzantine Empire Aztec Empire Inca Empire Maya Empire Safavid Empire Persian Empire Any guesses?
The Decline and Fall of the American 'Empire'? In the 18th Century, historian Edward Gibbon wrote a classic book detailing the collapse of the Roman Empire. Many commentators today find it trendy to compare America to ancient Rome (a phenomenon Professor Victor Davis Hanson called 'Pop Romanism'). Do you believe, based on what you know and feel, that this comparison is true? Why/why not?
How long until the American Empire collapses? All empires in the history of the world inevitably come to a collapse at some point, so I'm curious to know your opinions on how this collapse will come to be, if you accept that one is inevitable.
Is the end of the American Empire near? Every great civilization in history has fallen. With all these problems America is involved in and the US dollar getting weaker everyday, and all the jobs going to China and India. Is the end of this Empire nearing? Should we look for work in India or China?
How many of you think the American Empire will never fall? The Roman Empire ruled over quite a bit of the earth's surface.. then that disappeared; the Arabs (who the Americans hate so much) ruled an equally large part of the world for a while, they taught the Europeans the modern number system and even invented algebra (I believe somebody called al jebr first used it whence the name), they taught the Europeans architecture and ship building, and did their own little bit to spread their religion as well, but in time their supremacy was gone. For people in America that want to bomb the Arabs to stone age, well, actually white people are NOT in the stone age because of the Arabs (no Arabs => no modern number system =>no zero => no modern math => no technology => no bomb). But anyways in time the Arab civilization lost its premier position. The British Empire rose and fell. Well the American Empire has risen. Let's see how many of you think it will never fall? If you want , you can state your reasons for or against. You may also mention your level of education, the country you reside in and your political affiliation. I simply want to check for a correlation. May be some people got their panties in a bunch for my saying American Empire. Allright, how about "American Empire" in quotes. BTW, Rome was a "Republic" too to start with. But when we look back we don't say the Roman Republic, we say Roman Empire. The word Senate was borrowed from Rome. People never fail to amaze me with their ignorance. For the rest of you reading and answering, I do not care to grace lancelot's idiocy with a response. You can just ignore his answer and continue with your own.
Is the American Empire on the Brink of Collapse? U.S. military expert Chalmers Johnson argues the catastrophe in Iraq and the staggering cost of running a military that stretches across 130 countries on 737 bases may finally cost America its empire. "I believe that we're close to a tipping point right now. What happened to the Soviet Union between 1989 and 1991 could easily be happening to us for essentially the same reasons. Imperial overreach, inability to reform, rigid economic ideology. ... The world's balance of power didn't change one iota on September 11, 2001. The only way we could lose the power and influence we had at that time was through our own actions, and that's what we did." -- Chalmers Johnson, author of Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/49603/
The decline of the american empire? LIke rome were undermining the sanctity of the home. Like rome we have a craze for pleasure and sporting events. Athletes are paid more then doctors or engineers. Like rome, were building armaments when the decay is inside the country. Like rome, christians and jews are being hated and persecuted while paganism is tolerated in the open forum.
When do you think the American empire will fall? Don't get angry or irrationally patriotic, I'm just asking. The fact is that all empires eventually come to an end. The Romans, the British, etc. How many more years do you think America will remain at the top? p.s. I'm American. Duane, I respect your reasoning as it seems rational and considered (though I'm not sure consuming 65% of the world's resources should be taken as a boasting point. Gluttonous, is what it is). Regarding your invitation to leave--I already have. Though it's not neccesarily because I think the US fall is imminent; rather, it's that I find people to be happier outside of the US, and life in general to be less consumptive and closer to my ideals. Though one never sees the communal unhappiness that's so entreched in living in America until he's left. Lastly, you're right, America won't miss me. Each and every one of us--taken individually--is completely insignificant to our countries and to the world.
The Inevitable fall of the American Empire? With America growing more and more out of touch and out of step with the rest of the world and their penchant for "Pre-emptive war genocide, racism, spying, neo-con governments; policies of economic and ecological devastation for the rest of the world, are they doomed to fall onto the same scrap heap of the past empires?.. if so when? and how soon do you hope so?
Will Bush be remembered as the man who brought down the American Empire? Due to Bush's unnecessary invasion and occupation of Iraq and his proud ignorance of global affairs world opinion of America has suffered. People don't trust America any more. Due to a lack of trust there is not too much foreign investments coming into the U.S. China owns much of American capitol due to the 6 trillion dollars in debts that bush has accumulated (after the vast surplus of the Clinton era). Most investors are going into Indian, Chinese, and European markets after losing their trust and confidence in America. So will Bush be remembered as the man who brought down the American empire? Can the Democrats do anything to save this country? I don't think this arrogance will work in the long run... if other people don't like us they won't invest in our companies..without foreign investments and with countries placing trade embargoes on us (like we did on Cuba) our economy will crash... and what makes you think we can survive as a nation with the whole world against us... we need to work with the world to remain influential... this arrogance is not the only reason why people are falling out of love with America
Can we now say that the sun never sets on the American Empire and are we not Imperialists as a result? http://www.thenation.com/doc/20050926/bacevich are we not inviting ourselves to be terrorist targets as we expand our empire and is there such a thing as a benign or democratic Empire(king) The Phillipines are our first military colony post as a result of the contrived Spanish-American war dating from 1898 so far the first 4 have not even read the link!!oooh the ignorance.
