Barrel Of Oil Knowledge Base
Why does everyone seem to WANT $100 dollar a barrel oil prices? The futures traders, and all of the stupid announcers / commentators on Bloomberg, CNBC, newspapers, etc keep talking up the oil price. When it approaches 100 dollars they froth, when it drops down a little, the keep talking it up like a cheerleader. Why do they do this? It's obvious that some slimeballs are profiteering from this big round magical number of 100, but its at everyones expense, and to the benefit of very few. Thanks for any help you can provide to explain this criminal and negligent behavior.
in the uk, Why do we hear about on the news the price of a barrel oil in the usa ? From what I can see theirs is cheaper than ours & our petrol is much more expensive. My local petrol station has just put unleaded up to £1.09p a litre thats more than the price of a gallon in the usa. De Deuce: Fcuk the Queen Now im torn: roy s i think you hit the nail on the head. from what others are saying it seems that America thinks its god, within the global structure.
What is the thickness of steel used to construct a standard 42 U.S. gallon oil barrel? I am trying to conduct a heat transfer calculation for a system with a standard 42 U.S. gallon oil barrel of 316SS construction and I require the thickness of the barrel's material in order to do so. If anyone knows the standard thickness used for oil barrel construction, it would be a great help! I checked, and my drum is in fact a 55-gallon drum. Thanks for the correction.
Is $80 a barrel oil in direct proportion to the car which run on air? Compress air hard enough and it will ignite. Sorry republicans, These cars are being released for public sale in August 2008. *sniff* there goes your oil monopoly. *sniff* "Some 6000 zero-emissions Air Cars are scheduled to hit Indian streets in August of 2008." http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/new_cars/4217016.html http://freeenergynews.com/Directory/CompressedAir/index.html http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=compressed+air+engine&btnG=Google+Search
How is the price for a barrel of oil determined? Who decides what the "price of a barrel of oil" is? And what is that number we always hear on the news? Is the "price of a barrel of oil" what the stock market says it should be or is that what a particular supplier (OPEC or some other provider) happens to be charging that day?
Oil hit over $90 per barrel. What are you doing to cut back or use less home heating energy/gasoline? Do you drive as often, as you drove prior to the oil increase, for vacations, work, recreation, etc...? Is the utility company in your community helping, ignoring or hurting (increasing bills) the current home energy costs? With the cost of per barrel of oil rising to $100 per barrel of oil and is expected to go past the $100 per barrel mark, do you have any thoughts/suggestions as how to cope with the high cost of energy needs.
Does the "talk of $4300 per barrel oil" scare you? When the Prime Minister of Oobaa Cha-booba makes a statement like "we will see $4300 per barrel oil", I sure get scared. I hope the speculators really drive the price of crude up based on these useless statements from the PM. Now, my real question...why is everyone an oil expert?
How do you calculate the price of a Barrel of Oil? We always hear that the price of a barrel of oil has gone up to X amount, but how is that amount reached. The oil companies claim that this is due to problems, and that they need to charge more to pay for these inconveniences, so how do the oil companies come up with these prices?
How to get rid of barrel of used motor oil? My dad recently passed away and there's some stuff in the garage my mom wants to get rid of. There's two car engines in there that were really old, that she's found a way to get rid of, but there's also a huge barrel of oil that's been sitting in the back for many years. I don't even think it's sealed, and it's overflowing a bit. I was wondering if anyone knew a practical way to get rid of this thing and what to do so I can help her out. Thanks.

How many gallons or liters of gas come from a barrel of oil? If a barrel cost $120 and it holds 55 gallons of oil which is about $2.18 cents per gallon. But oil is used also for other things like plastic, fuel and other by products. I drive a Smart Car and I am getting around 50 to 60 miles to gallon of diesel but then that engine is not sold in the USA. I drove from Montreal to New York city and it cost me only $45 round trip.
How much does one barrel of oil cost nowadays? I am doing extra credit for my Geography class cause i am failing and i have to pass this year. Can a private citizen buy a barrel of oil? The media is always talking about the price of a barrel of oil as an index of the cost of gas. What if one wants to actually acquire a barrel of oil? Is it even feasible? I'm not looking to buy the oil to refine myself; more as an investment/ gift. A barrel of oil and a well cut piece of glass could make an interesting coffee table. :)
How does the barrel price of oil equate to increases at the gas pump? Is there some sort of rough estimate forumla? Two days ago the Yahoo headline said oil had reached a new high of over $129.00. Now today it's over $132.00. So how much will the average price of gas go up because of this? Does a $3.00 barrel increase mean a 30-cent increase at the pump or something? And what is the lag time? How long does it take for the barrel increase to effect the gas increase?
Is this stupid or what? A barrel of oil is selling for $37, but gas prices are going up? When oil was $40 a barrel, the average price of gas in California was under $1.60 a gallon, now it's up to about $2.30 even though a barrel of oil costs even less. The only answer that I think can account for it is GREED. There are no oil refineries out, nothing to keep the prices up. The only explanation I could find on the internet is that the refineries are intentionally slowing their output to keep the prices rising. You realize that means that when the economy gets better and demand increases, the prices are really going to skyrocket, right? $4.00 a gallon is going to look like a drop in the bucket. When are Americans going to get pissed off enough to get our government to put some restrictions on what corporations can do? Prices everywhere keep going up in spite of the economic downturn. Also, we need to return to sane lending practices. There need to be effective anti-usury laws that make charging excessive interest illegal. Does anyone know of any grassroots groups who are doing something about this? Where can they be found? Sorry for my rant....lol
Would you trade Israel to Iran if they promised $40 a barrel oil? Lets say Iran offers to sell America $40 a barrel oil, if we only convince Israel to disband and be absorbed into a Palistinian state, what would you do? How about if we just moved Israel to Baja Mexico, it wouldn't be in Iran's backdoor anymore, so they wouldn't care where we put it.
