My fiancee and I are going to get married and im trying to figure out what the tottal cost to get the marriage license and to be married at the court house from the justice of the peace would cost and if it helps any I live in Texas. Thanks! The first answer link doesnt even work!
How come hardly any Christians in the US care about social justice, peace and brotherhood? Predominantly, you are pro-war, have nothing but rebuke and arrogance towards the underprivileged and seem most concerned about TV programming, abstinence and abortion. Don't you think Jesus would like to see more than that? Wouldn't he want you to open your hearts and minds rather than engage in culture wars? By the way, please note that I start this paragraph with the word, "Predominantly." I know there are Christians who are engaged in helping the needy, trying to address institutional cruelty and injustice and put their physical freedom on the line to confront the dogs of war. In fact, here's some links to some of them: http://www.soaw.org/new/ http://www.jonahhouse.org/ http://www.catholicworker.com/bookstore/ http://www.forusa.org/ First of all, I must say I had to take a minute before adding details because otherwise, I would be just as abusive as the "Christians" here who just revel in spreading the love by calling me names and making assumptions which they accuse me of doing. There is a definition of hypocrite in the bible, but I doubt the "Christians" here have much use for that. Here's some facts for you, okay? And instead the ramblings of a moron like myself, the first article has many quotes from your favorite middleaged bible thumper, Ralph Reed. Of the major religious groups in the United States, evangelical Christians are the biggest backers of Israel and Washington's planned war against Iraq, says a new survey released here Wednesday by a politically potent group of fundamentalist Christians and Jews. Some 69 percent of conservative Christians favor military action against Baghdad; 10 percentage points more than the U.S. adult population as a whole. And almost two-thirds of evangelical Christians say they support Israeli actions towards ''Palestinian terrorism'', compared with 54 percent of the general population, according to the survey, which was released by Stand For Israel, a six-month-old spin-off of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ). ''The single strongest group for Israel in the United States, apart from Jews, is conservative Christians,'' declared Ralph Reed, co-chairman of Stand for Israel and former executive director of the Christian Coalition. the previous article in entirety can be found here: http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/1010-02.htm antoher one, an op-ed entitled "America struggles with its own evangelical Taliban" : http://www.news-journalonline.com/NewsJournalOnline/Opinion/Columnists/Essays/colESSAY080106.htm Don't assume I don't have facts. I don't just spew venom like you people do after listening to Rush Limbaugh for an hour. And xxxxgatexxxx, is 69% supporting a war based on lies and one that has already claimed more than 40,000 lives - mostly Iraqi, not predominant enough for you? But, my usage of the term "hardly any" was misleading. I should have used "only a small percentage." If I could rewrite the question, I would. See how that works? Admitting regrets and errors, it's not the end of the world and apparently, it's something your God wants you to do. But first you must cultivate an open mind, but since the end days are so close according to most of you, I guess you don't care about that kind of stuff. Thanks to practicing Christians here who managed to refrain from namecalling and sincerely addressed my question and/or provided me with more info. As I said so myself, I know there are Christians who put their freedom on the line to confront the forces of Moloch/comfort the afflicted/ advocate for human rights and so on but unfortunately and "predominantly" this isn't the case. Because if we did do these things regardless of what faith or spirituality, the world would be a better place. A heaven on earth of sorts. But first you have to accept that Muslims, "illegals", gays, and "LUNATICS who make assumptions" are also humans made of flesh and blood, able to feel joy, sorrow, pain and vulnerability.
is it force if ppl come to believe or know that justly limited fortunes is justice peace deomcracy safety etc? i am talking about changing minds, not force - i am talking about the possibility that justly limited fortunes IS greater happiness for everyone - that we are making an error - that correcting this error [mindset] can enhance our lives enormously - i am talking about ppl freely thoughtfully coming to WANT justly limited fortunes, for good sound reasons - i am talking about ppl sorting thru their understanding & seeing that they already believe & know justly limited fortunes is correct & good & extremely in their interests the world is very complex & we have many mental ways of making it more complex, & failing to see the big patterns - ie, the lesson of history, that the state built on injustice cannot stand, & what exactly is injustice & what isnt EVEN IF U WERE TO BE THE MOST OVERPAID, wd u choose the way things r, with super hyper extreme range of pay/hr violence misery disorder escalating to extinction soon, or moderate range of pay/hr, & happiness [peace liberty frat...]??????
it's very very simple, isnt it? [justice peace order happiness law democracy liberty capitalism]? you have a community, everyone working, everyone comfortable, happy, friendly, a closeknit or undivided community - then you take most wealth off most ppl & give it to one - everyone much unhappier - the many because theyve been robbed & deprived, the one bc everybody hates him, he is isolated from the community, he has to try to protect himself all the time, the extra wealth is merely more than he can use [fairpay satisfied nearly all desires, leaving very little for overwealth to do for him] - EVERYONE MUCH UNHAPPIER - therefore, reversing that change: EVERYONE MUCH HAPPIER EVERYONE much happier everyone MUCH HAPPIER everyone already agrees who is going to argue that taking 90% off 90% etc is going to make the community better off, happier, more peaceful, more closeknit, less divided? NO ONE thrfr there is already a universal unanimous human will to make this change [in the sensible part of the brain] we just have to catalyse the change with a little talking
How do I get married by the Justice of Peace? We live in Saint John N.B and me and my fiancee want to get married, short and sweetly by the justice of peace... I looked on google but I couldn't find anything... Has anyone done this? Is there any websites I could go to for information?? Thanks for the help!
was the american dream, of liberty and justice for all, hijacked by mammon? the founding fathers realised the obvious, that tyranny was inevitable with overwealth - they tried their best to limit fortunes to justice, by prohibiting entail & primogeniture, fixing clergy salaries, warning against the corporation - they believed that wealth concentration wd kill the republic, as did several presidents - democracy = people power, which is subverted if wealth/power is not just, is not proportional to work - work is democratically spread, wealth must be too, for justice, nonviolence, love of the republic, survival people's concept of justice, grasp of the allimportance of justice, was [far] too woolly for vigilance, the price of democracy, safety, happiness, peace justice [=peace, happiness, democracy, capitalism for all] is equal pay for equal work - we can quantify pay - when we can correctly define & quantify work, we will get justice, happiness, everything good we are missing out on ppl said: liberty! freedom to get limitlessly rich!

can somebody give me some good websites for peace, justice, understanding, community and things of that sort? I am trying to find a website or websites that are oriented toward peace, justice, understanding, community and good vibes. I am not very good at searching the internet and it always seems like other people are more in the know about this stuff. Since there is a very scarse community in real life, i wanted to see if there were websites for like minded individuals (free thinkers and peaceful people) that i could go to. Any info would be helpful! thanks Peace

Can you still just go to the Justice of Peace to get married in Oregon? My fiance and I don't have enough money to have a wedding. Even our family would consist of a large wedding. So we were wanting to just get married then have a reception to celebrate. We've been dealing with this problem since January and we wanted to get married in July of 2007 or at least have the reception then. But now I want to have a real wedding but not by church I want to have a regular wedding party with my white dress and my entire family. But my question is if its ok. to married twice by the justice of peace? Helpppppp! I guess i'm just like typical girl that wants to have a wedding on a big white or whatever color dress... you know... I dont know I always dream that but I was on a situation that I couldn't do it the way I want it to do it, so now I was just wondering if I can get married twice..... its weird but true... :-)
How can you justify Iraq war and people who love to go to wars in the name of establishing justice and peace?? You Bush lovers make me sick...You say We need to go to war to protect our country and show those terrorists...blah blah blah...You all are the real extremists of this world. You cannot rain down 500 pound bombs on people and expect them to take your doctrine and love you. They will hate and that hate will be fueled to their children..Then what you will get is more of what you call terrorism. Isn't it terrorism to order bombs to be put on innocent civilians whatever the race or religion. Some say oh no that is okay they are only trying to kill the insurgents. That is just plain wrong and it is immoral. That is still terrorism except you don't do it kamakazi style you just press a button. You Bush and Iraqi War lovers are fed with what the media feeds you and you all have no mercy for mankind. Makes me sick.

How to personalize a justice of the peace wedding ceremony? my fiance and I are having our wedding at a botanical garden with a justice of the peace officiant. However, I want the ceremony to last more than 5 minutes - what elements could I add in to make it more personal? Would you rather sacrifice peace or justice and why? The price we pay.... Members o0f the United Nations Security Council are considering whta to do with regard to the charges raised by the International Criminal Court against President Omar al-Bashir, president of Sudan. If they ask the ICC to hold the charges, it seems justice is surrendered in order to keep peace (security). Yet, if the ICC goes forward with its case, peace (and security) will need to be surrendered for the sake of justice. Would you sacrifice peace or justice?

Is it strange or bad to have a justice of the peace wedding, and then in a year a reception with renewed vows? We were going to get married in a year from this January. We had some financial changes and we are having to postpone our wedding. We have already been engaged for a year, and I don't particularly want to wait two more just for a fancy wedding. Does it seem strange to get married on our original date by a justice of the peace. Then when we can afford it, have the large reception and renew our vows? We would also do a wedding album and such then when we can afford it. Or would it be best to just wait it out?
Who has gotten married by Justice of the Peace? Why did you do it? Did you have a wedding later? Did it all work out? And what are the things you have to do to get married by Justice of the Peace? And I live in Missouri if that helps any.

What happens after justice of the peace? My fiancee and I are going to justice of the peace next week to get married (so I can get on insurance and the military gives us a little extra), but we're not going to be telling our families because they expect a real ceremony. We do plan to have a larger wedding in November of 2009....My question, how do we make our large ceremony seem like it's the real ceremony and not a "renewal" ceremony? It'll be an outside ceremony with a full reception.

Find a Justice of the Peace in Memphis, TN? I am planning to get married via civil ceremony in Memphis, TN. We can't afford a wedding. I found out where to go to get the license. However, I can't find a justice of the peace. Is the justice of the peace the same as the county clerk? I'm looking for the person who will actually perform the ceremony. Is it a judge? I need to contact this person to set up the date and specifics in order to complete our marriage before the license expires. Please help me, and thank you in advance.
Justice of the peace or tacky wedding? I've seen people who have very, very low budgets trying to do big weddings, or they will spend their money on the gown and leave the rest to chance. Isn't it just less stressful to forget the "big" event instead of putting on a tacky show? I'm confused at why people do this. Help me understand, because it seems like a waste of money. I am sure I'll be called snooty or something similar for asking this question ... that's okay. JYHoff I very much agree. All I'm saying is that the money could be better put to use for a purpose such as that: a downpayment on a home! Ella thanks for your honesty! I usually don't attend if I feel like the wedding will be some tacky or ghetto affair. Got that one covered, but thanks. I have lots of friends little muffin. ;) They all have manners like me.
