How often do economic sanctions work?

I need a percentage on how often economic sanctions work. Best answer goes to the person who did all of these: 1) Answered fast 2) Gives a percentage 3) Has a reliable source And it would also help if you gave examples of instances of when economic sanctions did/didn't work and why they did/didn't work. Mostly to second comment: this actually isn't homework.. it's something optional for debate. Wikipedia is an unreliable source and I've already searched Google.

3. 1.)Is this fast enough 2.)It's hard to put a percentage on these types of things but from what I've seen they rarely if ever work. They usually end up being counterproductive and strengthen whatever regime we were trying to punish as the people of that country pay the price 3.)I'm my own source on this one. Just going off my observations.
4. Well if those are usually a threat, only the Cuban punishment has worked, meanwhile for Iran, Libia, North Korea have another local allliances to survive.
